The 031-02479-001, officially known as the Mustang Control Relay Board, is a dedicated power relay output interface board designed for the VSD (Variable Speed ​​Drive) cabinet of York 19XRV variable-speed centrifugal chillers.
Its function is to receive low-voltage control signals from the VSD logic board and—utilizing onboard high-power electromagnetic relays for signal amplification and isolation—drive components such as the VSD cabinet cooling water pump, cooling fan, pre-charge contactor, fault alarm output, and unit interlock protection circuits. By providing isolation between high-voltage power circuits and low-voltage control signals, it prevents high-voltage power surges from damaging the core logic board, serving as a critical component for power output interfacing within the VSD system.

Core Functions:
Signal Power Amplification for Driving High-Power Loads
The VSD logic board outputs only low-level control signals; this board uses relays to amplify load-driving capability, enabling the operation of the VSD water-cooling pump, cabinet cooling fans, pre-charge contactor, and audible/visual fault alarms.

Electrical Isolation Between High-Voltage and Low-Voltage Circuits
The high-voltage power load circuit is completely isolated from the low-voltage logic control circuit. This prevents voltage surges from water pump motors or contactor coils from damaging the 031-02506-001 core processing board, thereby significantly reducing major repair costs.

Coordinated Timing Control for the VSD Cooling System
Based on power module temperature signals, the system automatically starts and stops the water-cooling pump and cooling fans. It accelerates heat dissipation during high-temperature conditions and reduces fan energy consumption during low-temperature conditions, maintaining safe operating temperatures for the SCR and IGBT components.

Timing Control for the Pre-charge Contactor
Upon initial power-up, the system closes the pre-charge circuit to gradually charge the DC bus capacitors. This limits inrush current, protecting the upstream SCR rectifier module and the high-power fast-acting fuse (A070UD32LI800).

External Interlock Output for Fault Signals
In the event of VSD overcurrent, over-temperature, or fuse failure, the board outputs a passive dry contact signal to the unit’s main operation panel. This triggers remote Building Automation (BA) alarms and initiates a safety shutdown interlock for the unit.

Independent Short-Circuit Protection for Individual Circuits
Each output circuit is equipped with an independent fuse. A short circuit in a single water pump or fan circuit blows only the corresponding branch fuse, allowing the remaining cooling and control circuits to continue operating normally and preventing a total system lockout.

Product Installation and Precautions:
Disconnect power to the entire unit and allow the large-capacity DC bus capacitors to discharge for at least 30 minutes; strictly guard against electric shock from the 700V DC high-voltage supply.

When handling ribbon cables, hold the edges of the circuit board; do not touch the chips, as static electricity can easily damage the input signal circuitry.

Distinguish between the low-voltage J1 ribbon cable and the high-voltage TB terminals; strictly avoid incorrect connections, as reversing them will immediately destroy the relays and the logic board.

When replacing components, verify the specifications of all output fuses; do not increase fuse ratings, as this could lead to load burnout.

Tighten all terminal bolts evenly; a loose connection in a high-current circuit can cause terminal oxidation and ablation due to overheating.

Perform a no-load test after replacement: ensure the pre-charge sequence, cooling water pump, and cooling fan operate correctly; proceed to load operation only after confirming there are no fault alarms.

If a cooling circuit fault persists after replacement, simultaneously inspect the water pump motor and the 031-02506 signal output from the logic board.
