The S-4004TA is an external pipeline oil filter assembly designed for Carrier 30HXC/30HXA water-cooled screw chillers. It features an integrated steel housing, a multi-layer fiberglass precision filter element, a mounting bracket, and standard SAE fittings. Installed in the oil return line between the oil separator and the compressor crankcase, it is specifically designed to filter out metal wear particles, carbon deposits, and pipeline debris from POE refrigeration oil; it utilizes purely mechanical particle filtration and does not contain moisture-absorbing molecular sieves.

Product failure symptoms:
1. The unit’s oil pressure differential remains consistently high; the differential rises more rapidly as the load increases, leading to frequent alarms and load-limiting actions.
2. The slide valve lacks sufficient force for loading; cooling capacity fails to reach the setpoint, and the chilled water temperature drops slowly.
3. Disassembly of the internal oil filter element reveals significant amounts of black metallic wear debris; the compressor exhibits abnormal noise and rising bearing temperatures.
4. Impurities enter the slide valve solenoid valve via the oil circuit, causing the valve spool to jam and rendering loading/unloading functions completely inoperative.
5. Sealing gaskets at both ends have aged and are leaking refrigeration oil, resulting in continuous loss of the unit’s lubricating oil.
6. Once the filter element becomes completely clogged, the pressure differential exceeds limits, triggering the internal bypass to open and allowing unfiltered impurities to enter the compressor directly.
