The VAL12003 is an original electronic expansion valve (EEV) specifically designed for Trane (Johnson Controls) screw chiller units; it serves as a core component within the refrigeration system for precise throttling, flow control, and superheat protection.
Compatible with Trane RTAC, RTAF, RTWD, and RTUD screw chiller units, and operating in conjunction with the MOD02686 stepper motor and UC800/CH530 main controllers, this valve performs high-precision throttling and pressure reduction for R134a, R407C, R404A, and R507 refrigerants. It dynamically regulates liquid refrigerant supply and stabilizes superheat levels, thereby ensuring the unit's high efficiency under partial load conditions, preventing liquid slugging, and facilitating low-noise, energy-efficient operation. 1. Precise Throttling and Pressure Reduction (Core of the Refrigeration Cycle)
Throttles high-pressure liquid refrigerant (2.0–3.5 MPa) into low-pressure, low-temperature wet vapor (0.4–0.8 MPa), precisely matching the evaporator’s requirements for low-pressure evaporation and heat absorption;
Features multi-stage throttling combined with a smooth valve port design to minimize refrigerant flashing and noise, thereby enhancing heat exchange efficiency and achieving 8–15% greater energy savings compared to thermal expansion valves.
2. Dynamic Flow Regulation (Core of Load Adaptation)
The main controller calculates the precise valve opening position (ranging from 0 to 500 steps) in real-time, based on suction pressure, discharge temperature, superheat, and chilled water outlet temperature;
Offers a wide range of flow regulation (5–100% capacity), perfectly matching the 25–100% partial-load operating requirements of screw compressors and preventing frequent start-stop cycles;
Liquid Slug Protection: At low loads, the valve maintains a small, precise opening to control liquid supply, preventing liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor and thereby averting potential damage (such as bearing or rotor burnout).
3. Superheat Closed-Loop Control (Core of System Stability)
Works in conjunction with evaporator outlet temperature sensors and suction pressure sensors to maintain precise closed-loop control of superheat within a range of 3–8 K (adjustable);
If superheat is too high → the valve opening increases to boost liquid supply and enhance cooling capacity; if superheat is too low → the valve opening decreases to reduce liquid supply and prevent liquid slugging;
Features rapid response capabilities (≤200 ms) to effectively adapt to sudden load changes, ambient temperature fluctuations, unit start-ups, shut-downs, and other dynamic operating conditions.
4. System Protection and Reliability (Core of Safety)
Built-in Valve Position Feedback: Transmits the current valve opening position to the main controller in real-time; performs self-diagnostics for faults (such as jamming, step loss, or motor failure) and triggers corresponding alarms;
