Trane VAL07951 Angle Stop Valve — A/C Service Valve / Pressure Sensor Port — Chiller Maintenance Valve

Trane VAL07951 Angle Stop Valve — A/C Service Valve / Pressure Sensor Port — Chiller Maintenance Valve

VAL07951 (Original Part Number X220870795100) is a genuine Trane (Johnson Controls) angle-type shut-off valve—serving as a service valve and pressure sensor port—specifically designed for refrigerant systems. It serves as a critical component for refrigerant circuit pressure monitoring, refrigerant charging, and maintenance isolation.
Compatible with Trane screw and centrifugal chillers, this valve is engineered specifically to accommodate pressure sensors, refrigerant charging ports, and system service points. It integrates four essential functions into a single unit—shut-off, throttling, pressure measurement, and charging—thereby ensuring precise pressure monitoring, safe refrigerant charging, reliable maintenance isolation, and long-term leak-free operation.

Trane VAL07951 Angle Valve: Core Functions
1. Dedicated Seat for Pressure Sensors (Core Function)
Precise Pressure Measurement Port: Features a 1/4″ female NPT thread at the top of the valve body, combined with a poppet seal. This allows for the direct installation of Trane TDR00354/00495 pressure sensors—requiring no adapters and introducing no additional potential leak points—ensuring a pressure measurement error margin of ≤ ±0.5%.
Isolation and Protection: The angle valve can be closed during sensor maintenance, eliminating the need to shut down the unit or evacuate refrigerant. This prevents system depressurization and significantly enhances operational and maintenance efficiency.
Long-Term Sealing Integrity: Utilizes a poppet-style valve core paired with a PTFE seal. This design offers superior resistance to refrigerant corrosion and aging, guaranteeing zero leakage for 10 years—making it ideally suited for the long-term operation of HVAC units.
2. Refrigerant Charging / Recovery Port (Core for O&M)
Standard Charging Port: Features a 1/4″ NPT port on the side, compatible with standard refrigerant charging hoses and recovery machines. The 90° right-angle design provides ample operating clearance and facilitates convenient connections.
Unidirectional Sealing: The poppet automatically opens during charging or recovery operations and seals automatically upon disconnection, preventing refrigerant leakage and blocking air ingress into the system.
Full-Flow Design: When the valve core is fully open, there is no throttling effect and flow resistance is minimized, resulting in rapid and highly efficient refrigerant charging and recovery.
3. System Maintenance Shut-off Valve (Core Safety Feature)
Circuit Isolation: Designed for installation on the high-pressure or low-pressure sides of the system, specifically upstream and downstream of filters, or at the inlet and outlet of compressors. By closing the angle valve during maintenance, specific local circuits can be isolated, enabling safe repairs without disrupting the operation of other parts of the system.
90° Quick-Switch Operation: The valve can be fully opened or closed with a simple 90° rotation using a hex wrench. This ensures convenient operation, eliminates the need for multiple rotations, and minimizes wear on the valve core.
High-Pressure Safety: Rated for a maximum pressure resistance of 6.0 MPa, making it suitable for both the high-pressure side (2.0–3.5 MPa) and low-pressure side (0.4–0.8 MPa) of HVAC units. It features explosion-proof and crack-resistant construction, ensuring safe and reliable performance. 4. System Protection and Reliability (Stable Core)
Bi-directional Sealing: The valve body is forged from a single piece of brass with no weld seams; PTFE seals at both ends ensure resistance to extreme temperatures and refrigerant corrosion, guaranteeing zero leakage.
Anti-Vibration Design: Features a robust, heavy-duty body structure combined with reinforced threads to effectively withstand compressor vibrations within the equipment room and pipeline pulsations, ensuring no loosening or leakage during long-term operation.
Dust and Moisture Protection: Equipped as standard with a dust cap and sealing washer to prevent dust and moisture ingress into the valve core, thereby preventing jamming and extending the service life of the unit.

Common Product Faults and Replacement Indicators
1. Refrigerant Leakage (Most Common): Caused by aging stem seals, worn valve cores, or damaged interface threads. Manifests as frost accumulation on the valve stem, oil stains, pressure drops, and rapid refrigerant depletion.
2. Valve Core Seizing: Caused by system contaminants entering the valve core, prolonged periods of inactivity, or aging seals. Manifests as difficulty in opening/closing the valve, inability to fully open or close the valve, or anomalies during refrigerant charging or pressure measurement.
3. Sensor Installation Leakage: Caused by damaged plunger seals, stripped sensor threads, or insufficient tightening. Manifests as frost accumulation at the sensor interface, oil stains, or drifting pressure readings.
4. Exceeding Service Life (≥ 8 Years): Caused by aging seals, worn valve cores, or corrosion of the valve body. Poses risks of system shutdown due to leaks, refrigerant waste, and moisture ingress into the system; replacement is recommended.
