Carrier TQ Valve 30HX412312: Functions and Applications
1. High-Precision Electronic Throttling
Receives signals from Carrier 32GB series controllers; utilizes a stepper motor for linear adjustment across a 0–100% range to precisely throttle high-pressure liquid refrigerant into a low-pressure mist. This ensures stable control of evaporator superheat (typically 3–7°C), thereby preventing frosting, overheating, and liquid slugging.
2. Hot Gas Bypass (Capacity Control)
During low-load, no-load, or anti-frosting conditions, the valve automatically adjusts the hot gas bypass flow rate. This stabilizes evaporator pressure, prevents compressor overload, and ensures the smooth and reliable operation of the unit.
3. Bidirectional Zero-Leakage Shutoff
Features a fully balanced valve core design that enables stable regulation in both forward and reverse directions. It possesses shutoff capabilities equivalent to a solenoid valve, achieving a complete seal upon system shutdown to prevent refrigerant backflow, oil migration, and compressor damage.
4. Wide Operating Condition Adaptability
Compatible with both variable-frequency and fixed-frequency Carrier screw compressors. It demonstrates sensitive response and stable flow control under varying loads, fluctuating water temperatures, and harsh operating environments, thereby boosting the Integrated Part-Load Value (IPLV) efficiency by 10% to 18%.
5. Manual Emergency Function
Equipped with a built-in manual adjustment knob, allowing for manual setting of the valve opening in the event of an electronic control failure. This ensures the unit can continue emergency operation, thereby minimizing downtime and associated losses.

Product Installation and Maintenance
Installation Location: Evaporator liquid inlet pipe / Hot gas bypass line (Horizontal installation; motor facing upwards)
Key Installation Points:
1. Bi-directional flow; no flow direction restrictions.
2. Use oxygen-free (inert gas shielded) brazing to protect the valve core and seals.
3. Keep the drive wiring away from high-voltage power lines; ensure the M12 connector is waterproof-sealed.
4. Leave a straight pipe section of at least 150 mm upstream and downstream of the valve body to prevent turbulence from affecting accuracy.
Replacement Scenarios:
Insufficient cooling capacity, abnormal frosting on the evaporator, superheat fault alarms, valve adjustment sticking/binding, refrigerant leakage, stepper motor failure.
Maintenance Recommendations:
1. Every 12 months, inspect the seals, wiring, and valve core operation.
2. Before replacement, recover the refrigerant, depressurize the system, and clean the piping.
3. After replacement, perform a superheat calibration (Carrier default setting: 5°C).
Precautions:
1. A filter-drier must be installed to prevent impurities from jamming the valve core.
2. Do not strike the valve body or forcibly twist the motor, as this may cause misalignment and damage.
3. Compatible only with 24V DC, 4-wire stepper motor drivers; cannot be used as a substitute for standard solenoid valves.
