Carrier 8TB0884 06NA660001 Oil Supply Solenoid Valve for 06NA Series Screw Compressors – Refrigeration Equipment Valve Component

Carrier 8TB0884 06NA660001 Oil Supply Solenoid Valve for 06NA Series Screw Compressors – Refrigeration Equipment Valve Component

Part number 06NA660001 is a solenoid valve body assembly designed specifically for Carrier 06NA series screw compressors; it is paired with solenoid coil model 8TB0884, and the two components must be used together.
This is a 2-way, 2-position, normally closed solenoid valve installed on 30HXC and 30HXY units. Its primary function is to rapidly cut off the lubrication oil circuit when the unit shuts down, thereby preventing high-pressure refrigerant from backflowing into the oil separator and oil pump. This prevents issues such as slow oil pressure buildup during the next startup and the risk of dry running of bearings, making it a critical safety component of the screw compressor's lubrication system.

Core System Functions:
1. Automatic oil circuit cutoff upon shutdown to protect the oil pump and compressor (Core Function)
The unit’s shutdown solenoid valve de-energizes and closes simultaneously, isolating high- and low-pressure oil circuits. This prevents refrigerant backflow into the oil pump, ensures adequate oil pressure at the moment of the next startup, and prevents dry-running damage to screw rotors and bearings.
2. Stable, unobstructed oil supply throughout unit operation
Upon compressor startup, the coil energizes and engages, fully opening the oil circuit; lubricating oil flows at the pump’s rated rate to bearings and rotors without throttling-induced pressure drop.
3. Automatic electronic linkage; no manual operation required
Linked synchronously with the compressor contactor—opening the valve at startup and closing it at shutdown—the system operates via fully automatic logic without manual intervention.
4. Wide operating temperature range; stable performance across all seasons
In winter, the coil generates sufficient magnetic force to fully open the valve despite the high viscosity of cold refrigeration oil; in summer, the seal and coil withstand high oil temperatures (up to 110°C) without aging or failure.
5. All-metal valve body and oil-resistant seals; long-lasting and maintenance-free
The valve body contains no fragile plastic parts, and the seals are designed for long-term immersion in POE oil, ensuring leak-free operation for 8 years in standard commercial units.

Common product malfunctions:
1. Excessive time to build oil pressure upon restart; frequent oil pressure warnings
Valve core seal wear or imperfect shut-off allows high-pressure refrigerant to backflow into the oil pump, resulting in prolonged pressure venting during startup and a slow rise in oil pressure.
2. No action when coil is energized; compressor fails to start; oil pressure fault reported
Coil (8TB0884) open-circuited or burnt out; valve core fails to engage; oil circuit completely blocked; no lubricating oil supply.
3. Low operating oil pressure; frequent unit shutdowns due to oil pressure unloading protection
Insufficient coil suction force; valve core stuck in a partially open (throttling) position; reduced oil flow cross-section; excessive pressure drop in oil pump supply.
4. Continuous leakage of refrigeration oil from valve body; oil sump level steadily dropping
NBR seal aging; minor oil leakage at valve body threads and valve core; frequent replenishment of POE refrigeration oil required.
5. Coil overheating, abnormal noise, short circuit, and blown fuse
Insulation aging due to prolonged heat exposure; inter-turn short circuit; control circuit fuse blows immediately upon energization.
