The 02XR05001501 is a dedicated immersion-type crankcase oil heater for Carrier 19XR series centrifugal chillers. Part of the 02XR compressor accessory line, it is rated for 115VAC, 60Hz operation.
It features a seamless stainless steel heating sheath, an internal nickel-chromium heating element, and high-temperature magnesium oxide insulation. Designed with a threaded seal at the terminal end, it is fully submerged in the compressor oil sump. During unit shutdown or standby, it continuously heats the lubricating oil to minimize refrigerant absorption and improve oil fluidity at low temperatures; this fundamentally prevents liquid slugging and compressor seizure caused by dry running or lubrication failure, making it a critical safety component of the centrifugal chiller's lubrication system.
Constructed as an integrated sealed assembly, the entire unit must be replaced in the event of a broken heating element, sheath corrosion or perforation, a blown internal thermal fuse, or damage to the power leads.

In the event of low oil levels or dry-burning (where the heating element is exposed), a built-in fuse permanently cuts off the heating circuit; this prevents high temperatures from igniting the refrigeration oil, ensuring compliance with commercial equipment room fire safety regulations.
